Do not assume famous scholarships cover online study
Chevening does not fund distance-learning courses. The Commonwealth’s approved 2026 distance-learning list contains no LLM. Check each future annual list instead of assuming every online master’s degree qualifies.
Common questions
Before you choose an online LLM
Are fully funded online LLM scholarships available?
Yes, but they are uncommon and usually restricted. Canon Collins’ University of London partnership is one verified example for a small eligible group, and its current cycle is closed.
Can I study without IELTS?
Possibly, if a university accepts other evidence. Essex Online offers its own English test for applicants without IELTS or an equivalent certificate; this is an alternative assessment, not a waiver.
Can two discounts be combined?
Only when the written terms allow it. Ask the provider to confirm permitted combinations and the order used to calculate each reduction.
Will an online LLM qualify me to practise law?
Not automatically. Academic recognition and professional licensing rules vary by jurisdiction. Check the relevant legal regulator before enrolling.
What should I verify before paying?
Confirm recognition, total tuition, excluded charges, online delivery, scholarship status, refund rules and whether the degree supports your intended professional path.
